It's That Time Again: Holiday Menus Are Here!

Despite the sunny weather, October has arrived! And even though it’s still blazing hot out here in Southern California, we still love the promise of fall and can’t wait to celebrate this festive season with all of you. So naturally, we thought it was about time we announced that our Holiday Menus are here!4 At Jay’s, we know this time looks a little different for everyone. Some gather with extended family for every major event, and others enjoy these special days with friends in a more low-kew setting. We want to help you make the most of this season, and do what we can to ensure that your get togethers are ones to remember. 38There’s no greater feeling than partaking in holiday traditions with the ones you love. Forget spending days prepping for that one meal. Let us do the cooking, so you can be present and enjoy the people who matter most. Plus, we think our tasty food will be a hit among your guests. Everything on our menu is made in-house from scratch, with the best possible ingredients. From our kitchen to yours, we want all of your Jay’s prepared dishes to taste homemade and simply delicious. 710 This year, we’ve created a menu that includes many Jay’s & Ellie’s Table staples as well as some fun, new additions. From Jay’s Famous Brunch Breads and Garlic & Herb Roasted Tri-Tip to our Lavish Thanksgiving Feast, we have fitting items for any and every spirited occasion. Of course, we can’t begin to think about holiday parties without dreaming of sweets and drinks. Our scrumptious dessert options include our signature pastry Crème Brûlée Kouign Amann, Pumpkin Pie Cake, Cream Filled Ginger Snap and more. And don’t forget about our Cider and Hot Chocolate Stations to keep you warm when the weather gets a bit chillier. 26

Spice Up Your Next Event: Our Indian Menu is Here!

At Jay’s, we’re always excited to experiment and try our hand at new flavors in the kitchen. We love creating menus that are inspired by spirited cultures around the globe. Recently, we decided to tackle our Indian Menu. Though we’ve had some Indian options in the past, we really wanted to amp up our selection to highlight our favorite dishes.

With so many rich flavors and spices, Indian cuisine is a blast to cook and, of course, to eat. In our menu, we’ve included very traditional items, like Chicken Tikka Masala, Spiced Basmati Rice, Vegetable Samosa, and Naan, while mixing in our unique Jay’s spin as well.

If you’re looking to have authentic, yet contemporary Indian Cuisine at your next event, we’ve got you covered. To prove how delicious the menu really is, we captured some tasty shots of a few key dishes that will have your mouth watering. Enjoy!

Romance With a Pop of Color: A Wedding Inspiration Shoot at The Estate

The best part about owning a versatile venue is seeing all the ways it can be transformed for each event. Every now and then we get the opportunity to collaborate with a group of brilliant vendors to create an atmosphere that fosters fresh looks and feeds inspiration. This time around we had the honor of working with Jamie B. Photography along with the talented designer and coordinator, Renee Odom of Posh-itively Perfect Events at The Estate on Second to achieve a modern elegance that brings in vintage styles with a twist.
23 Suited up in a dapper outfit by The Black Tux, the groom looked handsomely put together and absolutely charming. To complement his dashing looks, the bride was dressed to stun in a gown from Blush Bridal Couture. The dress’s designer, Hayley Paige, knows how to capture the elegance of simplicity with this gorgeous flowing number. 4 The bride’s hair and makeup highlighted her natural beauty with soft sweeping locks framing her face and subtle makeup enhancing her complexion. Swell Beauty showed their talents by making giving the bride an effortlessly flawless look.5 To add lovely pops of color to their ensembles, Seven Stems Floral Design and Events incorporated warm hues of oranges and pinks along with rich greenery. These beautiful accent florals were displayed around the space, providing a vibrant balance to the natural brick and wood architecture of the Estate.1767 The tables were dressed with dazzling linens and coverings from Luxe Linens. They twinkled in the candlelight and added a bit of extra shine to the scene. Also adorning the tabletops were delicate design works from invitation designer Li’K Designs. 89 All of the vintage furniture and other rental pieces were the contribution of Sundrop Vintage. These thoughtful details elevate the look of the space with unique stylings and pairings that display special characteristics. Each element, whether a wooden table or an elaborate couch, is adaptable with the addition of certain adornments to transform the look for each unique occasion. 101112 Jay’s was responsible for the catering that featured some of our favorite dessert options, including colorful plates of our sweet Macrons. To go along with the classic feel of the shoot, the entire treat selection was tastefully presented in a white vintage cabinet. 13 The incredible four-tired wedding cake was created by Plumeria Cakes. From delicate ruffles to painted on florals, the cake showed an amazing amount of versatility with each layer.141516 The entire shoot radiated elegance and romance, and would not have been possible without the dedication and creativity of each vendor. A special thank you to personal stylists, Oreos and Red Wine and Styled by TC, for their talented eye for artistry. And to Sweet Day Studio for shooting video of the entire process. We are so thankful for all of these vendors and all of the gorgeous work that they do.

Collaboration Cultivators: Theresa John of Sundrop Vintage

After many years in the events industry, we wholeheartedly believe we could not do what we do alone. Each occasion we cater can only be a success when paired with the hard work & talents of other industry professionals who are passionate about what they do. We’ve had the privilege of creating alongside a host of amazing vendors and we want to share their awesome work with you through our Collaboration Cultivators Series. 2 This time, we want to highlight one of our most near and dear friends, Theresa John of Sundrop Vintage. Since its beginning, Sundrop has been a vintage rentals and styling company dedicated to outfitting any sort of event. We’ve worked in tandem with Theresa for several occasions, parties, and inspiration shoots. Each time, we are simply blown away by her ability to perfectly curate a setting that compliments the client’s vision. 7 Though Theresa has had much experience in styling and florals, she never imagined that she would have her own design company. As a native Californian, Theresa has been involved in the surf industry since her husband opened up the local legend, Laguna Surf & Sport nearly 30 years ago. Since then, their family has nestled into the vibrant beach community of Capistrano Beach. 4 Sundrop Vintage came into play a few years back, when Theresa’s daughter’s friend asked her to help style her wedding. That initial spark has evolved into a multifaceted creative services company. From furniture rentals to event styling & coordinating to florals, Theresa and her team are all about dreaming up beautiful scenes 9 One thing Theresa loves about her job is the excitement that comes with furniture hunting. When she ventures to estate sales to find vintage pieces, she often learns the deep history behind the visual appeal. Every item has a unique past, and Sundrop ties together these stories to serve a lovely function in the present. Some pieces may need a little TLC, but even through the revamping and restoring process, Theresa maintains the vintage qualities that make them special.3 While the Sundrop Vintage team has an amazing sense of style, they don’t pigeon hole themselves into one particular style. In fact, Theresa and her team have found a fantastic method that blends design vision, consultancy, and curation. They listen to their clients’ inspirations, then they integrate Sundrop’s design eye to result in a wonderful collision of style that is unique to every client and event.5 As for inspiration, Theresa gathers gems from her travels and time in nature. Whether it’s collecting sea glass on the beaches of San Clemente, picking up driftwood along the Oregon Coast, or finding art pieces while roaming through South Africa, Israel, London, Mexico and Fiji, Theresa translates these cultural experiences into her work at Sundrop. 8
While styling is a true passion for Theresa, her motivation is continually renewed by the joyous reactions she sees during memorable experiences with clients. Being able to form lasting relationships with her clients and be a part of their major life celebrations is an incredibly rewarding experience for the Sundrop team.10 Sundrop Vintage is comprised of an incredible team of individuals, including Stylist Andrea Pitt and Marketing Guru Aly John, who just so happens to be Theresa’s daughter. These lovely ladies are decor geniuses, who aspire to meet their client’s wishes with an imaginative, thoughtful process. From sifting through Sundrop’s whimsical warehouse of vintage pieces to setting up the final gorgeous space at an event, these gals are all about creating with purpose.

Megan + Matt, Giracci Vineyards and Farms

The most meaningful events in someone’s life should be shared with family and friends, which is exactly why Matt + Megan surrounded themselves with loved one’s on their wedding day at Giracci Vineyards. The secluded farm venue was the perfect environment to make memories that will last a lifetime. Our Event Specialist, Nickie Good, guided this exciting day alongside the talented Amy Beck of All in the Detail Design to make sure everything went as planned.234 Getting ready, Megan and her bridal party started out the festivities wearing matching floral robes that perfectly tied in to the color scheme of the wedding flowers. Matt and his groomsmen didn’t have matching robes, but had an equally good time getting ready for the main event.295 Before the ceremony, Matt + Megan shared a beautiful first prayer together, holding hands around a tree to make sure they didn’t see each other until Megan was walking down the aisle.
 91011 The ceremony was heart-felt and filled with laughter. The pops of coral and other warm accents gave the scene a bright and romantic feel, perfectly fitting the spirit of the wedding. Loved ones watched as the couple exchanged their vows and committed themselves to a life together. Congratulatory embraces and cheers echoed throughout the vineyard after the ceremony. 3331 131415 Next up was the cocktail hour, where guests signed an old, preserved tree trunk and grabbed a drink for the toasts to come. Giracci Red Wine was enjoyed along with Jay’s tray passed hors d’oeuvres that included our Fontina Cheese, Caramelized Onion, Sundried Tomato & Pancetta Flatbread Pizzas, Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms. 1632 After mingling for a little while, everyone found their seats and anxiously anticipated the grand entrance of the newlyweds. Matt + Megan couldn’t have looked more in love while they navigated the dance floor for their first dance as man and wife. 1820 With all the fun and dancing, it was easy to work up and appetite. Jay’s served up a delicious spread featuring our Italian Green Beans with Pancetta and Sliced Tomatoes with Buffalo Mozzarella, Chicken Rigatoni with Creamy Marinara, Vegetarian Rotolo Bolzano, and Filet Mignon Carvery. 212224 Once everyone was settled and their stomachs were full, attention turned to the microphone for a line of fun-loving speeches and toasts. The reception was filled with contagious laughter and pure happiness.252627 Before long it was time to cut the cake. Jay’s created a 2 Tier Round Marble Cake with Chocolate Bavarian Filling and Buttercream Icing. For those that wanted a different kind of sweet treat, Jay’s also set up a Classic Dessert Station with French Macarons, Chocolate Dipped Cream Puffs, Mini Coconut Capped White Bavarian Cupcakes, Chocolate Florentines, French Fruit Tarts, and Dessert Shots.36 As the celebration came to an end, family and friends gave the couple final congratulations. The Estate's Big Easy

A few weeks ago, we announced the opening of The Estate on Second. Of course we couldn’t begin hosting without throwing ourselves a Grand Opening celebration to kick off all the amazing events to come. So we gathered up our industry friends and invited them to The Big Easy, a New Orleans inspired bash fit with entertainment, vendor highlights, tasty food & drinks, live music and more. Our team worked alongside the incredible planning talents of Green Apple Events Co., the always lovely Foxtail Florals. for arrangement and detail design, and Found Vintage Rentals for curated furniture that fit the event’s atmosphere perfectly.

23 After months of planning, construction, and designing, we couldn’t wait to show off The Estate in all its renovated glory. Guests entered through the font door and were immediately welcomed by gorgeous chandeliers above, confetti covered floors, the scent of southern comfort, and beautiful vintage seating areas provided by Found Vintage Rentals. 415 Ted Z and the Wranglers played their country-rock sound as guests mingled and snacked on our tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. All of the evening’s fare incorporated tangy cajun flavors and bold ingredients reminiscent of New Orlean’s rich culture. To start, we offered Grilled Jumbo Shrimp & Jambalaya Martinis with Andouille Sausage and Lo Country Crab Bisque Shooters with Crème Fraiche. 567 On the first floor, we served up a selection of various beers and wines at the bar. Stations were set up around the room with delicious dishes. We served up hand-carved Skirt Steak Étouffée Sliders with Fontina Cheese Sauce, Creole Sauce, Tobacco Onions, and an array of hot sauces for an extra kick. For the spicy lovers, our Gumbo Station included Smoked Chicken Gumbo, Seafood Gumbo, White Rice, and Red Beans. At each station, guests could dress up the dishes to their liking with assorted toppings and fix-ins.8Tables were scattered around the venue and dressed beautifully in Luxe Linens. Foxtail Florals added gorgeous pops of color with florals to each of the rooms and displays. Draped greenery and botanicals complimented the gold decor accents to create a vibrant, yet sophisticated feel. 919 To complete the charm, antique bottles, old-fashioned trophies, marquees, and and large, intricate rugs dressed up the elegant, bare bones of the structure. Hand lettered signs created by Nicole Solis marked each of the stations to add a whimsical touch.1018 Guests grabbed fun props and costumes to get their picture taken in the photo booth by MYphotoboothLA. 17 11 While the dancing and conversation ensued below, others gathered on The Terrace turned Cigar Lounge to sip on our Signature Mint Julep and Raspberry Rickey Cocktails. 16121320 Inside, The Attic was filled with a sweet selection of desserts created by Chef Christophe, our Executive Pastry Chef. Guests could lounge in wingback leather chairs and choose from our Ellie’s Table's Camelized Mini Kouign-Amann, Fresh Peaches and Bourbon Cream Tart, Flambé Banana Foster with Dark Rum Sabayon Cream and Praline Crunch Dessert Shot, and our Chocolate Decadence with Chicory Cream Topped with Caramelized Cacao Nibs.21 We could not have imagined a better way to share our venue.
