Lavender Love at Serra Plaza

Ruins of the Great Stone Church stood tall inside Mission San Juan Capistrano as the backdrop to Ashley and Steven’s first look. Ashley was dressed in a beautiful off-the-shoulder lace wedding dress, and her groom, in an emerald green suit. The two shared a sweet exchange and private moment together before gathering with their bridesmaids and groomsmen on Los Rios street. They posed for group photos, shared laughs and words of encouragement, then headed over to Serra Plaza for Ashley and Steven’s wedding ceremony.

The Grand Plaza Courtyard fountain was decorated with light shades of lavender flowers and eucalyptus garland draped from aisle chair to aisle chair. Guests arrived to a chalkboard welcome sign and pianist playing soft music in the background. Once everyone was seated, the wedding party began their entrance. Ashley met Steven at the head of the aisle where each of them read personalized vows to one another. The officiant pronounced them as husband and wife and the cheers rose from the crowd as the newlyweds exited.

Before dinner and just after the wedding ceremony, a traditional tea ceremony was performed by the bride and groom to express respect to their families. Meanwhile in the Plaza, tables were draped with ivory tablecloth, gold chargers marked each table setting and teal linen napkins were folded underneath. Large floral centerpieces sat atop gold geometric stands and terrariums and candles added small accents. Not long after the tea ceremony, guests were invited to their seats to engage in the evenings festivities. The bride and groom’s grand entrance was made even more grand with a traditional Chinese lion dance that wowed the crowd. Dinner was served right after toasts and included 16 Hour Smoked Beef Brisket, Macadamia Nut Encrusted Mahi Mahi, Pineapple Fried Rice, Mashed Potatoes, and Papaya Salad. The cake was cut after dinner and guests enjoyed desserts from our Tropical Dessert Station before hitting the dance floor and heading home.
