Edgy Black & White Wedding at Hangar 21 South
After getting ready, Mel and Brian posed for photos individually on the stairs at Hangar 21 South before their first look. Mel was dressed in a modern jumpsuit with detachable skirt and lace bodice and Brian wore a classic black tux with white undershirt and stylish floral patterned shoes. After their individual bride and groom portraits, Brian awaited Mel at the base of the stairs. Mel excitedly made her way over to her groom and tapped his shoulder. Brian turned around and the two exchanged loving compliments with beaming smiles. From their first look, Brian and Mel took a quick peek at their ceremony and reception spaces to see how all their hard planning their dream wedding work paid off.
Guests arrived in the side courtyard at Hangar 21 South where Mel and Brian’s wedding started nontraditionally with cocktail hour. A champagne wall offered guests a glass of bubbly and a welcome table equipped with polaroid camera, guest book and markers allowed guests to pose for selfies and write their best wishes to the couple. The bar was serving up the bride and groom’s signature cocktails, a Moscow Mule and Citrus Margarita and a Mediterranean Grazing Station with Caprese Skewers, Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus with Pita Chips, and Fig, Goat Cheese and Mascarpone Tarts with pomegranate reduction was on display for everyone to enjoy. A comfortable, all black lounge space where guests could sit back and relax was set up to perfectly match the edgy theme of the wedding. All guests agreed that starting with cocktail hour was a great way to kick off Brian and Mel’s wedding day.
After snacking and sipping, everyone made their way to the tarmac for the ceremony. Hundreds of white flowers lined both sides of the aisle where guests took their seats. An asymmetrical, black structure decorated in black and white floral arrangements marked the head of the aisle where Brian and Mel would tie the knot and a beautiful backdrop of small planes and helicopters added to the ambiance. Once everyone was seated, the officiant lead the way down the aisle ending with Mel. In front of all their friends and family, the bride and groom read handwritten vows and exchanged rings signifying their forever love. The two shared a kiss once pronounced husband and wife and walked out of the ceremony together as everyone cheered them on.
The newlyweds had their helicopter moment, then rejoined their guests inside the hangar for dinner. The reception space was covered in black and white details from candlesticks and candelabras to vases and napkins, no detail was left undone. An iron sweetheart backdrop was practically covered in flowers and foliage and even more decorated the table. A black dance floor marked the center of the room where Mel and Brian made their grand entrance. During their first dance, Mel transformed her wedding dress into a wedding jumpsuit by taking off her detachable skirt for a wow moment, then the couple took a seat for toasts. Champagne made its round at each table and glasses clinked in the air while memories of the bride and groom were shared. With the good vibes flowing, dinner was served. Guests were invited to enjoy a Street Taco Station with Pollo Asado and Carnitas Tacos, Enchilada Station with Rotisserie Chicken & Butternut Squash and Black Bean & Sweet Potato Enchiladas, Ensalada Las Mesas, and Pear & Walnut Salad. The fun, interactive menu selection was chosen by the bride and groom with help from our Event Specialist, Arielle. After dinner, guests enjoyed slices of wedding cake for a little something sweet. Energized from dinner and dessert, everyone got out on the dance floor. Dance circles showed off some impressive moves and no one backed down from a dance battle. The newlyweds surprised their guests with an In n Out truck as a late night snack which was much appreciated after all the dancing. Group photos were taken and a sparkler send off concluded the amazing night.
