Egan House Ribbon Cutting

Ellie herself joined us in a Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Wednesday, November 16th, to mark the first day of operation at the newest Ellie's Table location - Egan House. We are thrilled to occupy such an iconic building in San Juan Capistrano in her honor, and are even more thrilled to announce that Ellie's Table Egan House is now open!
02 Jay's Catering & Ellie's Table staff are gathered in front of the Egan House to celebrate Ellie's second bakery and café.
03 We are also thrilled to announce our new Executive Chef, Lewis Chan! He loves working with unique flavors and will be adding exciting new items to our menu.
04 A young man named Oliver comes in to Ellie's Table North Beach every Saturday and always asks the manager, Katy, "Where's Ellie today?" He has become Ellie's biggest fan and we were honored to have him involved in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. He got to meet Ellie for the first time and even hand wrote a card for her! Ellie was so excited to meet him she presented him with an Ellie's Table gift basket, including a T-Shirt, Hat, and Tumbler with Ellie's Table logos as well as his own personal gift card so he can buy all of the Chocolate Cronuts he wants!

Ellie’s Table at The Egan House

We’re at the final countdown of the unveiling of our second Ellie’s Table location at The Egan House in San Juan Capistrano set to open Fall, 2016. We can’t wait to share the beauty of this magical home with you, so we’re posting our progress photos!

A Brief History

The Egan House was built in 1883 and again in 1898 after a fire, by the “King of Capistrano”, Judge Richard Egan. The Victorian/Greek revival style building made of terracotta bricks was originally named Harmony Hall and known to be the center of luxurious dinner parties and lavish social events which were attended by the most influential and famous people of that time. As one of the founding fathers of San Juan Capistrano, Irish-born Judge Egan settled in 1868 and purchased 160 acres of land where he ruled as judge, mayor, railroad director, school board member and just all around leader of the town!

When we found this location, it was love at first sight! We really couldn’t resist having a second Ellie’s Table at this beautiful historical building. When we began the restoration, we knew that no one else could create a more grand vision than interior designer Becki Owens. She did an amazing job creating a relaxing, cafe feel while highlighting historical features, and bringing out the grandeur of the home that was lost over time. Our exquisite floors were created by Cement Tile Shop, and the lighting by Cedar & Moss and Rejuvenation.

Ellie's Table Egan House: A Taste of Something New

Over the years, Ellie’s Table At North Beach has become a local gathering place for the cozy community of San Clemente. Noticing the positive influence of this hometown feel and what it can provide for a neighborhood, we have decided to open another Ellie’s Table location a short drive up the road in San Juan Capistrano’s historical Egan House early 2016.2Already emanating with a feeling of nostalgia, The Egan House is the ideal location for Ellie’s next café. We see this building as a local icon that will bring the community together and give everyone a chance to share in its rich history. On top of everything else, it will be a great excuse to meet up with old friends and share stories while enjoying a delicious meal. 3 Our European style approach to classic pastries and a selection of savory dishes will bring a bit of our own culture into the vibrant community. Just like the original Ellie’s, this new location will offer customer favorites like the Kouign Amann, Breakfast Burritos, Jay’s famous Palm Sandwiches, as well as other well-known breakfast, lunch, and bakery selections. 4 This announcement is just the beginning of a wonderful collaboration between Ellie’s Table and The Egan House. We strive to preserve the historical integrity of the building, while bringing about a taste of something new. We love the welcoming atmosphere that defines SJC and can’t wait to meet the people of this charming town. 5 Keep on the lookout for progress updates throughout the coming months! Ellie’s Table At The Egan House will be one for the books.
